The Peer-to-Peer Mood Disorder Support Group, Inc. of Peekskill (P2PMDSG) is a non-profit, peer‐guided support group for those living with a mood disorder and their friends, family and/or other supporters. Person-centered, with a focus on recovery, individuals meet in groups to share the experiences, needs, setbacks, triumphs and desires of life with a mood disorder. Member comfort and security are key. Confidentiality is paramount. Members are advised not to share what is said in the groups outside of the groups. P2PMDSG also provides up-to-date educational materials, invites guest speakers, encourages and participates in mental health advocacy and fighting stigma. With these efforts, together with peers as role models, P2PMDSG strives to guide those living with a mood disorder to a state of recovery that includes, but is not limited to, independence, self-efficacy and community involvement.
